Yann Armellino is a French guitarist and bassist having four instrumental solo releases to his credit. This time he decided to record the first vocal album with a compatriot Chris Caron and two other musicians: Francis Campello (bass) and Patrice Lemoine (all the drums, Hammond).
"Gimme The Sound" is an album with hard rock music blended with bluesy touches and backed by an outstanding fingering. Almost all the tracks are played with power and tasty guitar gambits. Compositions are well-constructed and excellently performed not only by instrumentalists, but also by a charismatic singer like Chris Caron is. Although it is chiefly vocal stuff, there are also insrumental pieces of music with the participation of another French guitar virtuoso extraordinaire, Patrick Rondat of the Jean-Michel Jarre band and Elegy fame ("After The Tour") and Gildas Arzel ("Armorik N Roll"). "Isle Of Jura" is the only instrumental played without guest guitarists. In my humble opinion, "Gimme The Sound" includes precious music of a decent commercial potential and should appeal to fans of Bon Jovi, ZZ Top, Van Halen and Ritchie Kotzen's first three solo works.
