Have you ever thought over guitarists-virtuosos who appeared on movie soundtracks? I am pretty sure that some people aren't aware that a great axeman stands behind a track who is played as background while watching a film. There are many guitarists being worth a mention, however I will write about only a few names: Andy Taylor of Duran Duran who performed some tracks to an Albert Magnoli film "American Anthem" (1986), Michael Thompson alongside George Doering appeared on the soundtrack to Robert Radler's "Best of the Best II" (1992), Sylvester Levay showed his guitar skills on George P. Cosmatos' "Cobra" (1986) OST, Steve Lukather of Toto fame played on John Irvin's "Raw Deal" (1986), an American guitarist extraordinaire Steve Stevens performed along with electronica wizard Harold Faltermeyer on Tony Scott's "Top Gun" (1986), and Pete Haycock participated in the soundtrack to Franc Roddam's "K2" (1991) movie. Obviously, there are lots of soundtracks which include rock, hard rock and metal bands, however my aim was only focusing your attention on solo guitarists who marked his talents on selected movie's soundtracks. I hope it encourages you to further exploring and discovering other great soloists!
