OSV Project - Mission One (2007)

OSV Project - Mission One (2007)Self-released

OSV is an American project, founded in 2006, whose name stands for: Gary Oppert (drums), Steve Sexton (bass guitar) and Brandon Vaughn (keys, guitar). These three musicians can be considered the basic line-up, however there are also a supportive personnel consisting of four guitar virtuosos. The guitar soloists team is the following: Mathias Holm from Sweden, Paco Hernandez from Spain, Jean-Dominique Leonelli from France and Chris Cavera (famous for his band Killbot Zero, formerly known as Progzilla).

Before playing this item, you should be prepared for fast, heavy, yet melodic and atmospheric music. OSV's music is progressive and enriched by fusion-like parts and additionally backed by some twisted arrangements and cosmic keys. You can count on nice dialogues between guitarists and a keyboardist. I used a word "nice", since the fingering of all guitar virtuosos is really adroit. Moreover, here are numerous progressive lead parts, mad licks and rapid solos. Even though the solos are furious at some moments, they are played with an extraordinary precision and equality. A powerful wall of sonic-space attacks results in a movie soundscape that should appeal to those who enjoy space rock music. Upon listening to insane and offensive neoclassical guitar parts, George Bellas, Francesco Fareri, Javier Leal and Marco Ferrigno brought to my mind, so I recommend this stuff to the fanbase of them and progressive rock devotees from the 70s as well.
