Megaphone Man - Live At The Tabernacle (2008)

Megaphone Man - Live At The Tabernacle (2008)Blue Canoe Records

This is a special live debut album by American trio: Neal Fountain (bass guitar), Jeff Reilly (drums) and Bryan Lopes (tenor saxophone). Aforementioned live stuff was recorded at The Tabernacle Concert Hall in Atlanta.

The album is filled with twisted arrangements, gentle tunes and instrumental somersaults. Its rhythm section puts a fundament under a distinct and melodic lines drawn by sax player. It is relaxing, romantic and up-driving music. Although jazz must be considered an intellectual genre, Megaphone Man's music is very accessible and catchy in a sense. A long-lasting improvisation and its experimental approach don't interfere their music with being regarded as tempting and charming.

I still have an impression that so sympathetic and inspiring music can't be rusted out. The trio don't have to cultivate their technical skills anymore, since they have already managed to get the absolute virtuosity. Since Megaphone Man play a kind of Pink-Panther-jazz music, I hope they will be a prosperous band in the nearest future. If you listen to the stuff for the first time, you will not forgo playing it again and again. An instant reward guaranteed!
