Francesco Fareri - Arpeggios (Instructional DVD) (2002)Chops From Hell

I know there is something called collectability of records, but I am not sure if it is the same with collecting the instructional stuffs? Anyhow, here is the first instructional DVD to be described at the Department of Virtuosity. This Italian wizard's name is well-known to my regular Readers, since I reviewed some of his solo CDs.

Looking at the title, we know that we will deal with arpeggios, but first I should explain it to some unpractised Readers. Arpeggios are nothing, but chords made up of notes which are chiefly performed in speedy succession. 48 examples of these arpeggios are the frame of DVD. They are divided as regards tempos of execution and levels of difficulty. A student can learn how to adjust right hand movements and co-ordinate them with left one. Francesco changes the fluctuation of tempo, so we will see how to do a fluent finger-jumps on the neck. Arpeggios played by Francesco are alight, so they require well-trained and flexible fingers. Here we will also find three full tracks taken from "Suspension" CD released in 2001. The title track is performed in neoclassical power metal style with devilishly furious solos and bit progressive touches. Astonishing and extremely spectacular! "Introspective" is another shredding tornado performed like an instrumental ear attack. I have the foggiest idea how Francesco's guitar could stand his finger assaults? Maybe, it isn't a conventional instrument, but the tone-to-spit-out machine, haha?! "Secrets" is a very calm track in comparison to previous two ones and presents tapping technique in electroacoustic performance. The DVD includes tablatures and some other supplements that can be used by a practising students and experienced musicians as well.

By the way, I am curious if Francesco's teaching skills are as uncanny as his technique? However, I am sure it would be nice to have him as a guitar teacher. My next question to him is the following: what is a temperature of the strings when he tortures them, haha? To be absolutely serious, I admit that "Arpeggios" isn't a training stuff of the basics. I think the student should gain an upper-intermediate level in guitar playing to find this DVD really useful. Francesco presents fast techniques and explores their different combinations being a mixture of Rusty Cooley's and George Bellas' styles. So you should first answer three significant questions. Are you of scientifical nature human being who likes researching into your guitar? If so, this stuff can be very helpful. Do you want to master all shredding secrets supremely pefect? If so, the DVD can turn out to be your best adviser. And the last one: do you want to be considered a professional shredder? If so, "Arpeggios" seems to be a must have for you!
