Yann Armellino - Yann Armellino (1999)

Yann Armellino - Yann Armellino (1999)Edel/Sony Music

A French guitar ace Yann Armellino presented himself as a very prolific composer, because he recorded two solo albums in the same year - a self-titled debut and its successor "2". Apart from guitar recording, he also handled programming. Other people responsible for the programming were Alain Ihler and Patrice Lemoine. Bass guitar parts were performed by Sebastien Lenoble and Philippe Drevet.

Mr. Armellino offers us something that can be decribed as rocky, funky and bluesy. His music is pleasant, sympathetic and easy-to-absorb. There are a place both for faster and more romantic tracks, however most compositions are calm and played at mid-tempos. Yann's music is distinguished by a rich sound of the guitar and performing a deft licks on it. Yann is a guitar player technically adroit, but his first solo album proves he was in the middle of searching for his own style and musical individuality while recording the debut. All fans being deep in classic instrumental hard rock works of Joe Satriani, Davide Marrari, Igor Belsky and Joey Tafolla ("Infra-Blue", "Plastic") should be pleased with getting familiarized with this CD.
