Aforementioned German label released the compilation of David's best tracks, however a word "best" can be subjective from every man's viewpoint. Anyway, "A Piece Of History" includes 12 studio tracks, and every album is represented by four pieces of music, so all items from David's solo discography were treated fairly. Only "Enforcer" was published in two versions - the studio and live one as a bonus track. Although, it is the track played at mid-tempo, we can hear spontaneous responses from the audience. Their reactions are as vivid as David's music, so we aren't able to be surprised. It is obvious! Another bonus track, but totally new one, is an instrumental "Cannabis Jam" which reveals David's blues soul, and it really works!
"A Piece Of History" reflects the section of David's solo output - from early hard rock years to these much more heavy ones. The stuff shows his artistic versatility and ability to move between related genres with ease. Even though, David's fans are waiting for his forthcoming release "Flying in a Cloud of Controversy", I'd like to stress that the task of this CD is encouraging the listeners to reach out for his previous and future works. I think that its aim should be successfully crowned.
